Cuerda Seca, Spanish for dry cord The Moors developed this ancient glaze technique in the 14th century as a time-saving way to mimic the look of mosaics. Outlining the pattern with a liquid wax resist creates surface tension, making the glaze particles pile up on one another. Although the wax fires off early, the glaze stays put. The wax makes a faux grout line, while the thick glaze application raises each color’s surface, creating a mosaic look. This cloisonné inspired method produces rich colors and a desire to reach out and touch it. Beautiful, durable, and easy to care for ceramic art tile.
This is a 2-day workshop June 18th and 19th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
