1st Annual Blue Ridge Heritage Weekend Craft Trail

June 22, 2019

The Blue Ridge Heritage Weekend (BRHW) Craft Fair will be located just 3 blocks from downtown Waynesville (a popular tourist destination) on the grounds of the Shelton Campus. The campus includes the Historic Shelton House and it’s Museum of NC Handicrafts; the Haywood’s Historic Farmers Market; and the prestigious HART theatre, all of whom are involved in this weekend event.  On Saturday, Shelton House will host the juried Craft Fair, a quilt exhibit in the barn, and a Museum Open House.  The Open House will feature Shelton House history, The Village of Yesteryear/Mary Cornwell room and the Native American room. The Farmers Market, which typically attracts 800 people on its own each Saturday, will also host food trucks featuring local farm products and musicians performing at the Market and throughout the grounds. Saturday event at 6 pm, HART theatre will host the performance of Stardust, a dinner theatre that takes you back to the 1940s and 1950s when dining out with a floor show and stage-side table was the ultimate in glamour. Sunday features a ticketed Appalachian music concert on the HART Theatre Main Stage to benefit Shelton House.  Afterwards, the public is invited to attend on the grounds “The Birth of Clogging”, an interactive exhibition.  Attendance at the 1st Annual Blue Ridge Heritage Weekend is potentially very large, with 2,500 people expected on Saturday alone at the BRHW Craft Fair.
