Crafty Historian at Smith-McDowell House

October 19, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Come join the Crafty Historian and try your hand at paper quilling. Quilling is the art of curling strips of paper into interesting designs. The craft got its name from from the way paper strips were curled around bird quills (a feather’s center backbone). Colonial artists decorated candle holders and tea trays with pretty quilling.

We will practice with strips of paper and then create a work of art! Best for ages 8 and up. The craft requires working with small pieces and glue.  Limit of 12 participants. Reservations required.
