Woodburnings By Myron
Add to Trip

Myron Carter has never strayed very far from his lifelong connection to the arts. He has been a mime, a clown, a lighting designer, a set designer, a play director, an actor, and more. Certified to teach language, theatre, and visual arts, Myron’s path changed in the mid-1980s when he was gifted a woodburning kit. Since that time, he’s merged his many loves into the craft of woodburning. As an artist and a teacher, he concentrated on drawing and painting. Today, those skills manifest in a myriad of scenes burned onto wood with astounding detail and style. Myron has entered only one competition, the North Carolina Woodcarvers’ Festival in 2013 (pyrography division). He entered three pieces in the “open” category and won first, second, and third place.

Visitors to Woodburnings by Myron will find walls full of pyrography to choose from. Much of Myron’s work is inspired by photographs he’s taken. Subject matter ranges from old barns to family and friends to moonshine stills. Available for purchase are wooden plaques, keepsake boxes, ornaments, hiking sticks, and more, all adorned with Myron’s work.

But visitors won’t only find woodburning. Operating in the same location is Maggie Valley Puzzle Rooms. Myron designs every detail in the escape rooms, and visitors can enjoy his mind at work as they search for clues to escape one of the numerous themed rooms.
