Toe River Crafts in Celo has served as an outlet for local artists since 1974. In that year, members of the cooperative built the building with the help of friends and neighbors and opened up shop. One of the oldest galleries in the Toe River Valley, today, the gallery remains true to its original mission. Toe River Crafts represents 54 artists, all of which live and work within 15 miles of the gallery. Fifteen cooperative members work the gallery. Toe River Crafts also carries on the cooperative spirit of the Celo Community with a food co-op and a knowledge and skill-sharing program.
Visitors to Toe River Crafts can find a wide variety of work available for purchase. Items offered include pottery, jewelry, paintings, hand-turned wooden bowls and spoons, handmade dolls, and felted items. Every piece on display is unique, and working co-op members can give first-hand information about each piece. Toe River Crafts also offers events, including regularly scheduled food trucks.
Hours: Monday-Saturday 10 am-5 pm, Sunday 12-5 pm. April-December.
