Proud to Be a Part of . . .

The Blue Ridge Mountains: A Special Part of North Carolina and the United States of America

The 25 westernmost counties in North Carolina and the Qualla Boundary comprise a very special place in our nation, so special, in fact, that in 2003 Congress designated it as the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area.

Natural, Cultural, Cherokee and Agricultural Heritage Set the NC Mountains Apart

This designation, a true “badge of honor” for the region, was awarded based on five heritage themes that set the North Carolina mountains and foothills apart from any other place in our nation–the natural heritage of our Blue Ridge mountains, and the cultural heritage of our music and crafts, Cherokee heritage, and our agricultural traditions.

Working Together to Preserve the Beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina

Although the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership is charged with a specific mission to preserve, interpret and promote the region, everyone who lives and works in the region is part of this special designation. Together, we can raise the awareness among ourselves and our visitors as to the special nature of the North Carolina Blue Ridge.

Get Involved in Our “Proud to Be a Part of” Heritage Campaign

To that end, the BRNHA Partnership invites you as our partner to help build a regional brand for us all. Join in the “Proud to Be Part of” campaign and let everyone know that we are all indeed proud that we are a part of this special designation.

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area website promotes geo-tourism throughout the region, with links to Host Groups, Chambers of Commerce, museums, and other attractions and destinations. It is also the subscription point for our monthly visitor e-newsletter which promotes destinations and events in the region.

We encourage you extend the effectiveness of this promotion and build a regional brand by using the “Proud to be part of” logo on your websites, advertising, letterhead, email signatures, brochures, visitor guides, maps and exhibits. Simply double click on the image below, save it to your computer and use according to the guidelines given on this page.

In addition, we would be happy to send you a “Proud to be part of” bumper sticker and/or a cling decal. The more places it is seen, the sooner our brand will become recognizable.

To receive bumber stickers and decals, please send an email to jill@blueridgeheritage.com, and let us know how many you would like to have. These are great to give out to groups and organizations as well as to display on your own.
