Rite of Passage Clothing and Sew Co.
Add to Trip

Sew Co. is an industrial sewing facility in the River Arts District of Asheville. Sew Co. started in 2010 in Hendersonville, NC within the walls of The Oriole Mill and operated there for eleven years. The company seeks to dignify skill and to support independent designers. In 2021, operations moved to a renovated Clingman Avenue location and Sew Co. fully launched the Rite of Passage brand with a brick-and-motor storefront.

Rite of Passage clothing celebrates the sophistication of American apparel by designing enduring clothing that elevates the everyday through exquisite details, interesting textiles, and fun silhouettes. Rite of Passage offers curvy and straight fits for all body types, handbags, and other accessories. Rite of Passage products are made from all-natural fibers and domestic textiles.

Visitors to Sew Co. can see where, how, and who is sewing the clothes in the shop, get an insight into industrial sewing manufacturing, and possibly start to think more about where their clothes are coming from. A team of 20 makers fill the 7,000 square foot space sewing many products for other brands as well as for Rite of Passage. A public retail shop for Rite of Passage sits street-side and features large glass windows opening up a view into the sewing factory.
