In downtown Tryon, across the corner from the town mascot, “Morris” the toy horse, visitors can find Nest Artisan Market. The store is owned by Ashley Menetre, who curates all the work for sale and creates her own mixed media art with glass. The space was once Missildine’s Drugstore, which sold the town’s first ice cream and gasoline and, according to legend, served a banana split to F. Scott Fitzgerald. Tall ceilings and plenty of natural light create a pleasant gallery.
Visitors to Nest Artisan Market will find the work of more than 75 artists, the majority of whom live and work within 25 miles of the shop. Multiple displays fill the large space with media intermingling and colors and scents circulating. The Nest Artisan Market offers a rotating selection of work that includes painting, pottery, jewelry, knitting, woodwork, clothing, and more. Its location affords many close by opportunities for dining and shopping.
