Mountain Nest gallery of art and handicraft is located in historic downtown Black Mountain. Owned and operated by Steve and Tina Anderson, this gallery presents the work of local artists in a charming retail space. Tina’s experience in retail operations and accounting and Steve’s broad experience in retail design gave them the skills they needed when they decided to purchase the gallery in 2017. Since that time, Mountain Nest has served the craft artists of Western North Carolina as an outlet to promote their work. Mountain Nest strives to educate the public and guests about the artists, their techniques, and the history of their work.
Visitors to Mountain Nest can stroll the downtown streets of Black Mountain and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountain ridges. Once inside the gallery, they can browse the work of more than 100 Western North Carolina artists of all types. The large and varied selection of work includes a rich collection of functional and decorative pottery, original oil paintings and limited-edition art prints, a large selection of handmade jewelry, and an extensive collection of lost wax sterling silver pendants and charms. Other work for sale includes blown glass, wood crafts and turned bowls, woven scarves, metal sculptures, leather crafts, gourd art, and bark baskets.
