Mountain Made
Add to Trip

Situated in the Grove Arcade in downtown Asheville, Mountain Made showcases the creative work of Western North Carolina’s mountains. The marble floors, high ceilings, and grand architectural details of the Grove Arcade offer a fitting setting for a wide range of craftwork from more than 150 artists, craftspeople, and authors, all from the region.

Visitors to Mountain Made will find jewelry, pottery, baskets, quilted wall hangings, turned wood, metal work, garden art, blown and stained glass, holiday ornaments, and books by local authors. Also, on display and available for purchase are original paintings as well as prints, photography, and a large selection of art cards.

A distinct characteristic of Mountain Made is how it features the experience of craft and engages visitors in the process. Regularly scheduled demonstrations allow Jason Probstein to share his process in creating vibrant and unique works in glass. Owner Melinda Knies facilitates interactive art projects that visitors can take part in. Once complete, these works are sold and the proceeds given to causes such as MANNA Food Bank.
