Madison County Arts Council
Add to Trip

The Madison County Arts Council (MCAC) is located in historic downtown Marshall on the banks of the French Broad River, one of the oldest rivers in the world. MCAC presents traditional and contemporary crafts, fine art, and more. Located in a building that’s lived past lives as a department store (the dumb waiter is still intact!) and a library, the MCAC uses the space to host exhibits, present concerts, and teach classes in the Junior Appalachian Musicians program. The physical home of MCAC represents multiple generations of Marshall history. The MCAC is also home to the Madison County Visitor Center and even has its own community radio station, wART FM 95.5.

Marshall is known for its artistic climate, and the community is rich with creatives. MCAC hosts member artists at its Main Street location twice each year, as well as at the annual Art on the Island on Blannahassett Island (just across the French Broad) in September. Each June, the MCAC presents the Bluff Mountain Festival on the grounds of Hot Springs Resort and Spa. This free festival features the best of mountain music and craft artist vendors.

Visitors to the Madison County Arts Council will enjoy wide ranging offerings in exhibits, sales, and performances. Work on display and for sale often includes pottery, blacksmithing, paintings, hand-made dolls, needle felting, photography, jewelry, and more.

Hours: Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday 10am-3pm
