Bear Iron Forge

Bear Iron Forge sign

Jerrod Sutcliffe founded Bear Iron Forge to keep the history of blacksmithing, knifemaking, and bladesmithing alive. These ancient iron crafts must be practiced and taught to survive. In time, he found additional purpose…

Sutcliffe is a US Navy veteran with a background in mechanical engineering. During his service, he sustained a brain injury and chemical burns, resulting in ongoing physical and emotional pain and PTSD. Over time, he gravitated towards blacksmithing as it helped him cope, and it was a shared interest with a friend.

Black Horse Forge was a hobby-turned-career for Sutcliffe. He offers classes in blacksmithing, knifemaking, and more while also selling his own wares. To further support his forge, 100% of funds raised go toward classes for veterans, active military, and first responders.

Bear Iron Forge is also an affiliate of Horse Iron Forge.
