Art on Main celebrates fine art and fine craft on the last weekend of September each year in historic downtown Hendersonville.
Local artists and highly qualified artists from the Southeast gather to share their art and celebrate their community. Look for works in clay, metal, wood, fiber, jewelry, paintings, and more.
Art on Main began in 1959 when the Art League of Henderson County created a Sidewalk Art Show to give local artists the chance to show their work in a relaxed atmosphere while meeting the public. Originally, only two-dimensional work was shown, but when the Arts Council of Henderson County took ownership in 2003, additional artists working in various media and from outside the area were invited to participate.
Live art demonstrations are interspersed throughout the show and may include blacksmithing, basket making, stone cutting, lapidary, copper and brass art, wire wrapping, raku pottery firing, painting, weaving, and fiber arts.
