HandMade in America Offers Small Town Workshop

A workshop, “Developing a Cultural Heritage Attraction in Your Small Town”, will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, from 10 am to 1 pm in Hayesville, NC, presented by HandMade in America, The Rural Center, and the CCCRA (Clay County Community Revitalization Association.)

Learn how volunteers in Hayesville, a HandMade in America Small Town, have enhanced their cultural tourism appeal by creating and developing the Cherokee Homestead Exhibit, an outdoor attraction that portrays a Cherokee Winter House and Summer House from 1650-1750.

Workshop participants will learn how to get money for their projects, and meet and mingle with mentors from the Cherokee Homestead Exhibit. While enjoying the Cherokee Homestead Exhibit and the Nelson Heritage Park, both living history exhibits, they will be guided through the process of creating an attraction in their own towns.

Registration fee is $30/person or $95 per small town team (up to 5 people). Registration deadline is October 26, 2011. You can register online at www.handmadeinamerica.org, or download this brochure and print a registration form.
