Celebrating Blue Ridge Heritage and Appalachian Crafts in Spruce Pine, NC
A Blue Ridge National Heritage Area grant supported the renovation and expansion of the Home of the Perfect Christmas Tree retail store in downtown Spruce Pine. The expansion included the development of a demonstration and workshop center where visitors can learn about traditional Appalachian crafts. The initiative has helped the non-profit store become a self-sustaining operation and is providing new income opportunities for product makers. The project involved renovations to the Ellis Building, which is included in the Downtown Spruce Pine Historic District.
