Mary Regan, Executive Director of the North Carolina Arts Council, will be the featured speaker. Mary has been associated with the North Carolina Arts Council for 37 years, serving as its Executive Director since 1976. During her tenure, the Arts Council has created many significant programs, including the Grassroots Arts Program, a pioneering cultural tourism initiative based on the state’s rich folk culture.
Since 2005, under her direction the Arts Council has focused on boosting North Carolina’s “Creative Economy.” A recent study revealed that creative industries in the state produce goods and services worth $41.4 billion and provide more than 293,000 jobs, 5.54% of total state employment.
