Folkmoot Presents Eireann’s Call – A Kilted Christmas

Folkmoot USA is thrilled to host its final Folkmoot Live show of 2023 and includes new lights and sounds gratefully purchased through the results of the Folkmoot Summer Soiree fundraiser. The new lights and sound were generously installed and procured through a lot of time and dedication from two Folkmoot volunteers Owen Englander and Jay Partridge.

Doors will open at 6:00 pm to allow guest time to enjoy Wolf Street Bistro food truck, mulled wine and more at the bar. Also there will be time to shop vintage Folkmoot T-Shirts for $5.00.

The show begins at 7:30 pm. Eireann’s Call, the beloved Celtic Rock band based in Waynesville, but touring throughout the southeast, will finish their three state holiday tour at the Folkmoot
Auditorium, 112 Virginia Ave., Waynesville on Dec. 15, 2023. This show is a charming and narrated journey through Celtic and Nordic lands where we find eccentric and fun characters celebrating the holiday season in a variety of ways – honoring traditions both old and new. The music is a delightful mix of familiar, ancient and original songs that evoke the magic of the season and the age-old celebration of the Winter Solstice.

With songs that are rollicking, funny, poignant and sacred, the concert promises something for everyone. Irish step dancers join the band for the show, as will the award-winning actress and narrator, Elizabeth Wiley, creating a truly memorable holiday experience unlike any other. Band leaders David and Catherine Doersch, toured for over a decade with their former band, Coyote Run, enjoying national and international success, headlining festivals from coast to coast as well as hosting multiple fan tours of Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. That band folded in 2012, but when the pandemic changed the world, the Doersch couple decided to once again pick up the gauntlet and create a new Celtic Rock band – with much the same spirit as Coyote Run – but a fresh, original sound.

Bringing together veteran performers – Rich McGuire on guitar and vocals, Chris Dawson on fiddle, Steve Smith on bass guitar – to join Catherine Doersch on drums and vocals and David Doersch on vocals, bagpipes, accordion and keys, they crafted a unique, powerful and classy sound that fills the hall, sweeping the audience away on a magical journey.
