Appalachian Women’s Museum

September 14, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$10 – $12

Join us at the Appalachian Women’s Museum in Dillsboro, North Carolina on Saturday, September 14th from Noon – 5 p.m. for Music on the Porch: A Celebration of Samantha Bumgarner.

The event will feature museum tours, multiple bands performing live on the beautiful wrap-around porch of the old Monteith Homestead (now the Appalachian Women’s Museum). We’ll be honoring the memory and music of Jackson County resident Samantha Bumgarner. In 1924 she became the first woman to record country music for a wide audience and continued a long career until her death in 1960. The scheduled musical performers are the Deitz Family, Susan Pepper, the BarnBillys, and Kornbread Kreek. Attendees can listen to the music while enjoying the food trucks and beer tent on the grounds. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the museum’s first annual Music on the Porch!

Tickets $10 ($12 at the door), children 12 and under FREE. Rain or Shine.
