In Tandem Gallery
Add to Trip

The name In Tandem Gallery was inspired by a beloved family image of a grandfather and grandmother riding a tandem bicycle during WW II. This concept was a natural fit for a gallery seeking to connect people who look to surround themselves with beautiful things with the people who make them. Founded by Andy and Silvia Palmer, In Tandem specializes in the work of studio ceramic artists from across the country as well as a handful outside the USA. They try to highlight the amazing talent of the ceramic world and intermix nationally renowned and iconic potters with more contemporary rising stars. In total, they represent more than 120 different potters working in many different styles and processes. A common thread of the work on display is bold and intricate decoration.

Visitors to In Tandem Gallery can enjoy a unique experience, including a tandem bicycle. The gallery occupies an old bank building in downtown Bakersville. Instead of recreating a typical gallery aesthetic, Andy and Silvia have kept the old industrial look of the building with the original tin ceilings and mortar, brick, and plaster showing through the walls.

The gallery usually hosts two exhibitions a month with an opening on the first Saturday of the month as well as one in the middle of the month.

Hours: Monday-Saturday 10:30 am-4:30 pm, April-December.
