Impulse Art Shop holds a prime spot on Main Street in Historic Downtown Rutherfordton. The 1800 square foot building was built more than a century ago and features large front windows and tall ceilings. The Gallery opened as a custom framing business in 1979. Judith Padgett bought the business in 1993 and ran it as half gallery, half frame shop until her retirement in 2021. The gallery focused on handcrafted items. A local Rutherfordton couple, Leniece Lane and John Keever have recently taken over the gallery and made it their own. Today visitors will continue to find a gallery of all North American made, handcrafted arts.
The Gallery offers a large and diverse selection of all North American made handcrafted items, including locally, regionally, and nationally sourced pieces. Color is in large supply! A wide selection of pottery includes functional and non-functional pieces. Other offerings include fiber arts, blown and stained glass, jewelry, pewter, wood, and other unique items.
