The Todd Promenade

From 1-5pm workshops include:
Dance Calling 101 & 102 with Phil Jamison
Flatfoot Dancing with Gordy Hinners and Rebecca Keeter
Playing Music for Dances with Paul Brown and Nancy Mamlin

A little after 5, we clear the floor and make way for a kids-only dance while the grown-ups get busy learning how to run sound or setting up for the potluck, which will start closer to 6, when we open the doors to anyone who wants to enjoy a good meal and kick up their heels a little.

Callers and musicians who participated in the workshops will get a chance to test what they’ve learned during the evening dance, with the guidance of their workshop teachers.

Thanks to generous grants from the Ashe County NC Community Foundation and Appalachian State’s Center for Appalachian Studies, this day of fun and learning is free for anyone who wants to attend. We ask that those who are able make a small donation to support the continuation of events like these in the future. The evening dance is $5 for those just coming to the dance (free for workshop participants and for all children 15 and under).
