Trails Less Traveled: Charlies Bunion

Join us for this 8-Mile out and back hike with an elevation gain of 1,640 feet to one of the most scenic vistas in The Great Smokies. Leaving from the Newfound Gap parking lot, this hike follows a gorgeous stretch of the Appalachian Trail through the highest closed-forest zone of Red Spruce and Fraser Fir in the Smokies while offering outstanding views of the North Carolina Smokies to the south and the legendary Mt. LeConte and Myrtle Point culminating with the expansive views from Charlies Bunion. This hike is recommended for experienced hikers only.
