Transylvania Heritage Museum

The Transylvania Heritage Museum, located in Brevard, North Carolina, features permanent and changing displays of heirlooms, artifacts, genealogical exhibits, vintage photographs, and other exhibits reflective of the history and heritage of Transylvania County. The Museum offers a variety of interactive programs and events throughout the year, including the annual Founders Day Fair on Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

A Genealogy Research room, open to members of the Transylvania Genealogical Society and the public, is located upstairs. Both the Museum and Genealogical Society are programs of the non-profit organization, Transylvania Heritage Coalition, Inc.

Heritage Gifts, a shop featuring local crafts, music and books, helps to support the Museum.

The Museum opened in May, 2008, on the former site of the Jim Bob Tinsley Museum, which was dedicated to the North Carolina-born Western singer. In 2010, the Museum moved to the old 2-story frame house known as the Harry Patton House, built in 1900. The current location has parking and outside space for events.

The Transylvania Heritage Museum is located 2 driveways past the Brevard Post Office on the left in the old house behind Carolina Financial Services.
