David Pendley
Dave Pendley has had an active and varied musical career for more than twenty-five years. One of North Carolina’s highly regarded bluegrass artists, Pendley is currently the mandolin player and lead/harmony vocalist for the Whitewater Bluegrass Company, a long-established band based in the Asheville area.
Before joining Whitewater, Pendley spent ten years as a member of Ric-O-Chet, a bluegrass band from Boone that toured music festivals throughout the nation. The band received critical acclaim after recording several albums for Rebel Records, the same label that boasted other bluegrass stars such as the Seldom Scene, Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, and the Country Gentlemen. Pendley has shared the stage with many legendary bluegrass musicians throughout his career, performing at well-known venues across the US.
The Whitewater Bluegrass Company is the host band for Folkmoot USA, North Carolina’s official international folk festival, as well as the Smoky Mountain Folk Festival. The band performs every month at the Four Points Sheraton in Asheville. Whitewater can also be heard at venues which range from private parties and square dances to large festivals.
