Winter Live Staking Workshop
February 28 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Free
Join HCLT (Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust) and WATR (Watershed Association of the Tuckasegee River) in live staking native plants in a disturbed riparian area. The practice of live staking is used widely in disturbed and eroded stream beds. Livestaking reintroduces live plant species for the purpose of stabilizing the stream bed and vegetating bare soil. Ken Brown (former Executive Director of WATR) and HCLT staff will teach local participants how to harvest and plant live stakes with a hands-on workshop. These practices are easily replicated on a home-owner’s property or most eroded/disturbed stream beds.
Please bring gloves, water, light snacks, and any other items to be comfortable outside for two hours. The location of the workshop is in the same area as the parking area so walking will be minimal. We hope to see you there!
