Sunflower Embroidery Workshop: A Virtual Event from the Vance Birthplace

July 11, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$20.00

Join us on Zoom for a virtual sewing circle!

Before COVID-19, we planned to host a few Sewing Circle events at the Vance Birthplace this summer. Since we can’t hold these workshops in person, we are going to try it virtually! Join us on Zoom for an afternoon of hand embroidery. Using a design based on a textile scrap on display at the Vance Birthplace, we will be embroidering handkerchiefs. Assistant Site Manager Lauren May will walk you through the project, teaching several basic embroidery stitches, providing tips sharing the history behind the design.

Registration required, $20 per person. All participants will receive an embroidery kit in the mail with all the supplies needed to complete the project—a handkerchief, embroidery floss, 4-inch embroidery hoop, and a needle. When registering please be sure to include your address so staff can mail your supplies to you. 48 hours before the workshop you will receive an email from the Vance Birthplace with the Zoom link and directions for the workshop. You can register here using Eventbrite.
