Summer Tracks Music Concert: Anya Hinkle with Free Planet Radio

June 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Tryon’s most popular music series—continues its 25th season June 20 with Anya Hinkle with Free Planet Radio. Well known and well-loved, Asheville-based singer-songwriter, Anya Hinkle is steeped in the tones of roots and folk music, seasoned by her world travels and vivid storytelling. PopMatters calls her “a burgeoning force behind the Appalachian roots revival…” Americana Highways writes of her latest album Oceania (2024, Red Parlor Records) “This North Carolina singer-songwriter has an engagingly smooth-toned classic vocal with an album that appears to be pop tunes but isn’t. She’s the real thing – melodic with rich traditional instincts.” Her songs have won her industry recognition, including first-place at the 2019 Merlefest Chris Austin Song Contest. For this appearance, Anya is backed by the world-music super group Free Planet Radio, featuring Chris Rosser (piano, guitar, Indian dotar, sarod, Turkish cumbus oud), Jake Wolf (bass) and River Guerguerian (percussion).

Summer Track’s six-concert series runs from June through August. More information on each show— including performers bios and photos—can be found at www.summertracks.com. All shows begin at 7 p.m. In case of rain, concerts move across the street inside Tryon Fire Dept. Lite bites, desserts and soft drinks are sold onsite by Huckleberry’s June 6, July 11, August 22 and Chef Sharone on June 20, July 25, August 8.  Alcohol consumption is allowed in the park, but alcohol is not for sale. A $10 suggested donation along with many local business and individual sponsors make these shows possible.
