Opening Day Appalachian Folkways Celebration

Opening Day at the Cradle of Forestry celebrates Appalachian culture and heritage from the days of the Biltmore Forest School. Journey back in time and visit a small 1900’s mountain community. Explore how people of the day worked and played along our historic Biltmore Campus Trail. Interact with demonstrators that will be bringing the community to life with working draft horses, open hearth cooking, laundry, blacksmithing, traditional music and games.
