Historic Floods and Landslides — What Have We Learned?

February 15 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

The Southern Appalachians faces landslides and floods regularly that impact thousands of residents. Yet we continue to build in places that put people and property in harm’s way. This interactive forum features leading experts on how our special geology affects livability including Rick Wooten who was the Senior Geologist for Geohazards and Engineering Geology at N.C Geological Survey, Jim Fox who is a leading resilience expert, Jennifer Bauer, P.G., co-owner and Principal Geologist of Appalachian Landslide Consultants, PLLC, and elders whose families have been impacted by major floods up to and including the 1916 Flood.
Participants may register to attend the event in person or watch it via livestream. This forum is free and open to the public but advanced registration is required.
