Obee Editions and Wishing Flower Press & Bindery (Wishing Flower) are two printmaking studios operated by husband and wife team, Perry and Kimberly Obee, located in Black Mountain, NC. Obee Editions is a collaborative printmaking studio founded by Tamarind Master Printer Perry Obee in 2016. Wishing Flower is a book arts and letterpress studio founded by Kimberly Obee in 2021.
Perry Obee is a collaborative printmaker, artist, and the owner of Obee Editions, whose mission is to provide national and regional artists of all levels access to the expertise of a professional collaborative printer. Perry specializes in hand-printed lithography, relief, and monotype. Kimberly Obee is an artist bookmaker and printmaker and has been making prints and hand-bound books since 2011. She founded Wishing Flower Press & Bindery in 2021, specializing in hand-printed letterpress stationery, prints, hand-bound books, and paper toys.
Wishing Flower’s side of the studio has a 10×15 Chandler & Price platen printing press, Kluge letterpress, Guillotine paper cutter and Board Sheer equipment, book press, and lead type. All are essential to the printing and production of the stationery line and the various bookbinding and book repair projects undertaken in the space. Obee Editions is equipped with a Griffin lithography press, an etching press, a lithographic stone library, and other printmaking equipment.
Visitors to Obee Editions and Wishing Flower can enjoy the shared studio, which is equipped with specialized printing equipment for both Kimberly and Perry. Their studio has beautiful high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light. Artwork from both husband and wife, along with collaborative projects of other artists, both regional and nationally acclaimed, line the walls. Work in progress can be seen from Obee Editions, and Wishing Flower offers a full line of products for sale and in process. Private tutorials, group workshops, and classes are also held in the space.
