Frank Barbara Woodworking
Add to Trip

Frank Barbara loves to tell stories, and he loves wood. Those two things come together at Frank Barbara Woodworking in the Sandy Mush section of Leicester. Frank grew up in New York and came honestly by his love of rustic woodworking with time spent at his wife’s family home in the Adirondack Mountains. Frank began woodworking when he renovated a cabin that garnered him a feature article in Cabin Life Magazine.

Frank continued woodworking as a hobby until he retired to Sandy Mush, a 200-year-old farming community surrounded by high-peaked mountains. The luscious valley and its surrounding mountains are the source of almost all his source material. Frank works to know and share the story of the wood he uses, such as the farm where he found a walnut fence post or the age and owner of a barn that provided chestnut planks.

Visitors to Frank Barbara Woodworking can experience firsthand the stories that wood has to tell. They can see Frank’s workshop and his strategy for drying and storing wood. They can also enjoy his gallery which showcases fine handcrafted items including furniture, mirrors, frames, coat racks, clocks, and many more unique one-of-a-kind creations.
