What began as a small backyard sale has grown into the gallery’s most festive and well-loved event of the year.\n \nJoin us on Saturday\, December 6\, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a day filled with good company\, warm drinks\, and handmade craft. This is the one day each year when I open the shelves and share the year’s “seconds” — pottery that came out of the kiln with small quirks or surprises. These pieces are still beautiful and completely functional\, and they will be 20 to 50 percent off as I make room for next year’s work.\n \nGuest artists David Wyke\, Courtney Long\, and Maria Avila will join in with their own seconds\, adding even more variety to the mix. Expect an easygoing atmosphere\, good conversation\, and a touch of holiday spirit in the air.\n \nWhether you are a longtime collector or just curious about pottery\, this is the perfect day to stop by\, find a treasure\, and enjoy one of the gallery’s most joyful traditions of the season.

SUMMARY:History of the American Quilt
DESCRIPTION:Susan Sweet will give a talk on the “History of the American Quilt” with examples of quilts from the last 135 years. Susan is an avid quilter\, collector and a scholar of American quilting\, she has taught a class at ASU on this subject. In her program she will bring quilts dating back to the 1890s to demonstrate how quilts can tell the story of our country.  \nTo help celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence\, Susan participated in putting together the “Watauga County History Quilt.” The quilt will be on display at BRAHM through the month of December.
