SUMMARY:RADFest: Celebrate Art\, Music & Community!
DESCRIPTION:Join us November 8 + 9 from 10am-5pm in Asheville’s River Arts District for two days of creativity and connection. Enjoy live music and DJs\, art demos\, open studios and galleries\, local food trucks\, and family-friendly fun throughout the district. \nOur first RADFest was the first event we had after Hurricane Helene devastated so much of the River Arts District. At the time we just had a few re-opened spaces\, and tons of artists set up selling their art from pop-up tents. We were absolutely blown away with how many people came to show their support and buy art. You guys really showed how pivotal art is to the identity and culture of Asheville\, and we were so grateful. \nNOW we have over 500 artists in the many re-opened buildings of RAD\, and we’ll have the outdoor art market of over 100 still displaced artists. It’s time to show up for us again\, and what a beautiful excuse to fill your home with unique\, amazing local art. \nFree admission – everyone welcome!

SUMMARY:Asheville Sessions Community Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we conclude the weekend of activities celebrating the Historic 1925 Asheville Recording Sessions with a free community concert featuring local bands performing roots performing music of the styles represented in the 1925 Asheville recordings. \nLocation details to come. \n———————- \nAsheville wrote the first chapter of America’s country music story by producing the earliest commercial recordings of Appalachian music two years before any other city. A century ago\, in the heart of downtown Asheville\, a mobile recording studio was set up at the George Vanderbilt Hotel to capture the voices of a region rarely heard beyond its mountain borders. Known as “The Asheville Sessions\,” the 1925 recordings brought together fiddlers\, banjo players\, guitarists\, ballad singers\, and family groups. The recordings became one of the first commercial projects to preserve the musical traditions of Appalachia and helped lay the foundation for what would become American roots and country music. \nThat legacy didn’t fade. Today\, Asheville produces stars like country giant Luke Combs and guitar legend Warren Haynes\, alongside a burgeoning generation redefining music for the next century. \nExplore Asheville is the presenting sponsor of “The Asheville Sessions: Celebrating 100 years of Americana & Appalachia\,” a November weekend filled with concerts and events linking the groundbreaking work of 1925 to the city’s thriving modern music scene. \nwww.AshevilleSessions.com

SUMMARY:Community Harvest Celebration at Foothills Watershed
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of music and hands-on heritage at Foothills Watershed\, our family-friendly\, community-focused venue nestled along the Catawba River in Old Fort. Hosted in partnership with McDowell County native Jordan Laney (Slow Down Sound)\, this event will be a vibrant celebration of Appalachian resilience and heritage. Led by William Ritter—an old-time fiddler\, seed-saver\, and ballad singer from Mitchell County—this seed swap is an invitation to connect through shared stories\, music\, and seeds. William is a passionate steward of Appalachian traditions. A student of folk culture and roots music\, his work blends performance and preservation. Whether he’s hosting porch visits\, bean-stringings\, or seed-swaps\, he’s building community through both song and soil. \nThis event is hosted in partnership with Song to Seed\, an initiative co-led by Ritter that practices\, celebrates\, and advocates for traditional Appalachian seed saving and folk music. Song to Seed events feature historic regional crops\, community seed exchanges\, and educational storytelling through music and lectures—all rooted in building local resilience. Seed saving is about more than gardening—it’s a powerful tool for cultural preservation\, biodiversity\, and food sovereignty. With 93% of U.S. vegetable varieties lost between 1903 and 1983 due to industrial agriculture\, local seed-saving efforts like this one are vital to protecting ecosystem health and the flavorful\, nutritious food traditions of this region. \nWhat to Expect at the Seed Exchange:\n● A mix of traditional music\, storytelling\, and seed-sharing\n● Seed packets to share or take home—bring your own to contribute if you have\nthem\, or just come to learn! \nAdditional Event Info & FAQs\n● Admission: Free and family-friendly\n● Location: Foothills Watershed\, 655 Catawba River Rd\, Old Fort\, NC\n● Rain or Shine: While we have a beautiful and expansive outdoor space for folks to explore\, we also have plenty of heated\, indoor space to enjoy.\n● Food & Drink: Food and beer will be available for purchase on-site. Non-alcoholic\, CBD\, and THC beverages are also available. \nTo stay up-to-date on events\, follow @foothillswatershed on Instagram or find us on Facebook.\nMore info: www.foothillswatershed.com
