DESCRIPTION:The Shelton House Museum of North Carolina Craft and History will present a special exhibition of quilts and coverlets during the Appalachian True Heritage Festival on April 18\, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission to the festival is free. \nThis featured display will complement the numerous historic and contemporary textile examples currently on view at the museum\, further highlighting the rich quilting traditions of our region. In addition to selections from the museum’s own collection\, the exhibition will include works by community quilt guilds and quilters\, showcasing both time-honored patterns and contemporary interpretations. \nThe exhibition will be held at the Ministry Activity Center at First Baptist Church on Main Street in Waynesville. The Shelton House itself will also be open during the festival\, where additional quilts and coverlets from the museum’s collection will be on view\, offering visitors an expanded opportunity to experience the artistry\, skill\, and heritage of Appalachian quilting.

DESCRIPTION:Pisgah Project Day (PPD) is Pisgah’s largest volunteer day. Each spring\, hundreds of community volunteers join forces with The Pisgah Conservancy\, our event sponsors and partners\, and the Forest Service to complete dozens of improvement projects throughout the Pisgah Ranger District. \nDuring PPD 2025\, 500 volunteers joined forces with us to complete 25 projects in a single day during our biggest PPD event to date. \nPPD 2026 will be held on Saturday\, April 25th\, and the event will take place on the last Saturday in April going forward. \nVisit site for more details and to register.

DESCRIPTION:The Greening Up the Mountains Festival is a heritage arts festival that celebrates the arrival of Spring through both traditional and contemporary forms of Appalachian art\, music\, food\, and beverage which honor our community and local artisans. The festival is sponsored by both the Town of Sylva and the Main Street Sylva Association and will be held in Historic Downtown Sylva\, North Carolina. The Greening Up The Mountains Festival enjoys crowds of upwards of 12\,000 attendees and has 150 vendor booth spaces. In addition to a variety of arts\, crafts\, and food vendors\, attendees can enjoy a 5k run\, beverage arts featuring local craft breweries\, and live music throughout the day. \n​Be sure to visit both Main Street and Bridge Park to enjoy all the festival has to offer.
