Sheila Kay Adams to Headline Banjopalooza

For the second year, the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership and Highland Brewing Company are partnering to present a Blue Ridge Music Trails “Traditions” concert celebrating the banjo styles of Western North Carolina—Banjopalooza.

On Saturday, August 22, from 6:30 to 8:30 in the taproom, National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellow Sheila Kay Adams will take to the stage performing her brilliant clawhammer style of banjo-playing. She will be joined by Eric Ellis, known as one of the finest banjo players in the region, and entertaining multi-instrumentalist David Johnson.  Banjo player Laura Boosinger will be emceeing the show.

The evening will highlight “clawhammer,” and not just the banjo style.  It will also celebrate Highland’s release of its seasonal Clawhammer Oktoberfest brew.

The concert is presented by the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership (BRNHA) as part of the Blue Ridge Music Trails Program. “Our Traditions concerts have become favorites of music lovers in our region because they not only share our traditional music, but also the history of how it came about,” said Angie Chandler, Executive Director of the BRNHA.
