The new Asheville Outlets mall opening this weekend is sponsoring some great music from artists who are on the Blue Ridge Music Trails. From Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 3, you can enjoy free music from some of the finest WNC artists, all of whom are on the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area's Traditional Artist Directory.  The main concert is from Whitewater Bluegrass. But our music will be playing all weekend. See below for a schedule of performers. read more

The arrival of warmer weather across much of Western North Carolina has lead to the re-opening of the Blue Ridge Parkway North of Asheville, NC. This development provides access to such areas as Craggy Gardens and those beyond heading North towards the Virginia state line. read more

The Blue Ridge National Heritage Area Partnership (BRNHA) announces the award of 22 grants totaling $170,000 to help support diverse initiatives across the North Carolina mountains and foothills, focusing on craft, music, natural heritage, Cherokee culture, and agricultural traditions. These five facets of the region’s heritage earned the 25 counties of Western North Carolina a Congressional designation as the Blue Ridge National Heritage Area in 2003. read more

Robert Dotson, a flatfoot dancer of Sugar Grove, NC and recipient of the 1994 North Carolina Folk Heritage Award, passed away January 13, 2015, after a brief illness at the age of 91. read more

The Blue Ridge Parkway (Parkway) is seeking public input, through February 9, 2015, on an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Moses H. Cone Developed Area Management Plan (DAMP).  The DAMP would guide the future development and management of the Moses H. Cone Memorial Park (Memorial Park). The purpose of this EA is to describe the affected environment and analyze potential impacts associated with a no action alternative and two action alternatives. read more
