Transylvania Heritage Museum


Courtesy of the Transylvania Heritage MuseumThe Transylvania Heritage Museum, located in Brevard, North Carolina, features permanent and changing displays of heirlooms, artifacts, genealogical exhibits, vintage photographs, and other exhibits reflective of the history and heritage of Transylvania County.

On permanent display is Cascadia: Land of the Waterfalls.  Other exhibits, which may change occasionally, include a timeline of area history, Cherokee artifacts, Early Settlers, Logging, Mills, and an Old Post Office (Balsam Grove).  The museum offers a variety of interactive programs and events throughout the year.

The museum opened in May, 2008, on the former site of the Jim Bob Tinsley Museum, which was dedicated to the North Carolina-born Western singer.  Some of Tinsley's artifacts and memorabilia remain on display.

10 am to 5 pm, Wednesday through Saturday

Admission is free.
